Worldwide Import-Export News Add commentsChambers Ireland and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Ireland were today (02/03/10) addressed by the Secretary General of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), Kunio Mikuriya, on the importance of trade facilitation and open markets.
Ian Talbot, Chief Executive, Chambers Ireland and Chair of ICC Ireland said, “Ireland’s ability to export internationally will be crucial for the future growth of our economy. As a small open economy our growth and well-being are heavily dependent on our trade performance. Despite the current challenges, Ireland is well placed to capture opportunities in export markets.”
“Events such as this focusing on the case for a risk-based approach to secure global supply chains will play a crucial part in developing deeper relationships and understanding of the role of the World Customs Organisation and its relevance for Irish companies involved or seeking to get involved in international trade,” Talbot concluded.
