China: Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps held a grand ceremony for the kick-off of its 50,000 spindles compact spinning program in Alar No.1 Industry Zone in Alar, Xinjiang on July 18th. The program covered an area of 100 mu and was divided into two phases. In phase one, the 20,000 spindles fucus on 60-80 counts yarn. It is going to complete the construction by the end of this Dec. In phase two, the 30,000 spindles program will start construction in early next year, with investment of 120 million yuan. It is reported that this program is a major step for Alar to become a major cotton textile town in West China.
